Elizabeth Jane Bland, 85, of Salem passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Mrs. Bland was born on May 13, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of the late Hugh and Grace Jane (Adams) McGowan. She was a graduate of Jackson Milton High School and a member of the Women’s Democratic Club; she also enjoyed watching all types of sports. Elizabeth worked for Sebring Container and retired from Valley Container. Survivors include her daughter Sharyn Beagle of Salem, a grandson Steven (Karen) Beagle of North Carolina and a great grandson Dylan Beagle also of North Carolina. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings; Mary Wilson, Florence Locke, Leatrice Meiter, Edmond McGowan and Helen Mordue. Per her request services include cremation.
