Billie D. Haupt

May 23, 1926 ~ April 28, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Billie D. Haupt, 89 of Beloit passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Aultman Hospital. Billie was born in Alliance, Ohio on May 23, 1926, the son of the late Winfield S. and Ann Marie (Taylor) Haupt. Billie graduated from Beloit High School and served in the US Navy during WWII.  He was second class petty officer on USS Salt Lake City.  Billie was employed by Alliance Machine for 43 years, where he was head of maintenance and was a bus driver for West Branch Local Schools for 25 years.  He was a longtime member of Sebring Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder-deacon, a lifetime member of Sebring VFW, Sebring Masonic Lodge, was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Tadmor Shrine, and the Sebring Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Caroline (Burkey) Haupt whom he married on March 20, 1948; three children Bonnie (Doug) Greenawalt, Ronald (Marylee) Haupt, Jeffrey Haupt. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tasha (Jonathan) Bloor, Shawn (Jen Taylor) Greenawalt, Allyson (Sean) Edie, Brooke (Mike) Vasquez, Carley (Eric Call) Haupt, Eric (Tiffany) Haupt; great-grandchildren Riley Bloor, Addi Bloor, Carter Haupt, Ethan Haupt, LeeAnn Haupt, Brooklyn Horner, Owen Horner, Cali Call, Oaklie Vasquez, and Olive Vasquez.  He is also survived by his brother Robert Haupt, and two sisters Evelyn (Al) Sosorenko of Indianapolis and Patricia Bandy. Besides his parents Billie was preceded in death by his son Lewie Haupt, brothers Winfield Scott (Ethel) Haupt, Richard (Mary) Haupt, Ernest Haupt, Jack Haupt, sister Betty (Earl) Simpson, sister-in-law Jackie Haupt and brother-in-law Dick Bandy.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday May 2, 2016 at Sebring Presbyterian Church with Rev. Marty Radcliff officiating.  Friends may call from 4:00-6:00 PM on Sunday May 1, 2016 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home and one half hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.  Interment will take place in Highland Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Billie’s honor to Sebring Presbyterian Church 526 N. 16th Street, Sebring, OH 44672.
