Delpha Dean (Ward) Wayte

Delpha Dean Wayte, 87 of Kent passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Pebble Creek Care Center in Akron.  Delpha was born in Beloit on October 15, 1927 the daughter of the late Ralph D. and Mary Margaret (Marshal) Ward; she was a graduate of Sebring McKinley High School and received her Registered Nurse training at Salem Community Hospital.  Delpha was a US Air Force veteran serving as a First Lieutenant; she worked as an RN for Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital as a civilian for many years.  Mrs. Wayte was an avid reader, she enjoyed traveling and swimming but most important to her was spending time with her family and friends especially her two granddaughters.

Survivors include her daughters; Leslie (Nick) Battaglia of Peninsula, OH, Kathy (Martin) Ruddock of Chardon, OH and two granddaughters; Heather Battaglia and Alexandra Ruddock. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Wayte whom she married on October 10, 1952 and passed in 1982, three sisters Delores, Jacqueline, Marsha and a brother Ralph “Sonny”.

A Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday April 30, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home with Pastor Mike Kimball officiating.  Friends may call the hour prior to the service on Thursday from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Quaker Hill Cemetery in Sebring with Military Honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made in Delpha’s memory to the Charity of the donor’s choice.
