Dr. Donald L. Botten

Dr. Botten, 88 of Sebring passed away on October 8, 2016. Don was born in Cleveland Heights, Ohio on February 23, 1928 the son of the late Charles K. and Gladys (Green) Botten. He was a graduate of Shaw High School, Class of 1946. He received his Engineering Bachelor’s degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, his Masters in Management from Rollins, his Masters in Divinity from Emory University, his Masters in Psychology from Nova University, and his Doctor of Counseling Psychology from Heed University. He first worked as an Electronics Technician and Engineer in Virginia and then Engineering Manager in Orlando, Florida. He then served several churches as an ordained elder as pastor. After obtaining his Doctorate, he had a private practice as a counseling psychologist. After retirement at age 65, he spent summers in Ohio and winters in Florida with Ballroom Dancing as his major hobby. He also wrote web pages and helped others with their computers. He published a book entitled “Creative Happiness”.

Survivors include his daughter, Janice Miller of Colorado, granddaughters Megan Palmiotti, and Lorena Mills of Florida, and great grandchildren, Charlotte and Michael Mills of Florida. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Rev. Bruce Botten.

A Memorial Service will take place on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Bennett Chapel, Copeland Oaks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Life Care Fund at Copeland Oaks, 800 South 15th Street, Sebring, OH 44672. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery.
