Joseph Wayne Whitlatch Jr., 72 of Sebring passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 surrounded by his family. Joseph was born in Alliance on October 19, 1943 the son of the late Joseph and Betty (Johnson) Whitlatch Sr.. He was a member of the Sebring Church of the Nazarene. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg after 35 years. 30 of the 35 years were spent in Union Leadership as a Chief Steward, Committeeman and also as a UAW National Contract Negotiator. Joseph was an Army Veteran, a member of the Sebring Masonic Lodge 626, UAW Local 122 and was a sports fan; especially Sebring Basketball, but most of all he enjoyed to watch his children and grandchildren play sports.

Survivors include his two sons Brian (Shelly) Whitlatch of Louisville, Brad (Aimee) Whitlatch of Sunbury; daughter-in-law Jamie Whitlatch of Sebring; brother Robert (Sherri) Whitlatch of Maultry, GA.; two sisters Kay Swartz of Sebring and Mary Mohnacky of Alliance; five grandchildren Kayla (Keith) Phelps, Tyler Whitlatch, Cayden Whitlatch, Charleigh-Rae Whitlatch and Brady Whitlatch; two great grandchildren Carter Whitlatch and Cambree Phelps and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his former wife Beverly Whitlatch Jackson, sons Greg Alan Whitlatch and Joseph Wayne Whitlatch III; and a nephew James Swartz.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Kimball officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in Joseph’s honor to Sebring Church of the Nazarene, 626 W. Maryland Ave., Sebring, Ohio 44672. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
