Ruth V. (Shell) Burton

Ruth V. Burton, 89 of Salem passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Crandall Medical Center.  Ruth was born in Negley, Ohio on December 29, 1925 the daughter of the late Clifford and Mildred (Hacker) Shell. Mrs. Burton worked as a Clerk for the JC Penney Company and was a member of the Salem First United Methodist Church, the Church UMW and a past Matron of the East Palestine Eastern Star.

 Survivors include her son Terry L. (Margie) Burton of Chapel Hill, NC, a Daughter Lynn E. (Paul) Hofmann of Salem, 1 grandson Daniel Craig (Kathy) Hofmann of Columbus, MS and 1 great grandchild.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband John Wesley Burton Jr. and a grandson Chad J. Hofmann.

            A Memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday June 6, 2015, officiated by Pastors P. Douglas George and Bruce Irwin in the Chapel of Salem First United Methodist Church.  Friends may call the hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in Glenview Cemetery.  Friends and family may sign the guest register online at www.brownfhonline.com.  Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Salem, OH (330) 337-6363.
