W. Jean Myers

W. Jean Myers, 93 of Deerfield passed away on Friday November 27, 2015 at her home with her loved ones by her side.  She was born in Deerfield on August 27, 1922 the daughter of the late Armon and Frances Hartzell.  She was a lifelong member of Deerfield Friends Church and a graduate of Deerfield School in 1940. During the war she worked at Taylor Craft in Alliance as a riveter and welder. She also worked at Gem Clay in Sebring and as a cook at Southeast High School for 34 years and a waitress at the School House Restaurant for 9 years until she officially retired at the age of 84 years.

Survivors include a son Larry (Vicki) Henderson of Massillon and a daughter Diane (Scott) Shields of Minerva. She also leaves a grandson David (Michelle) Henderson of Indiana; two great granddaughters Morgan and Brenna; four step grandchildren Chad and Amanda Nodo of Massillon, Scotty and Rachael of Minerva and four great grandsons and her companion and best friend Zoey the cat. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter Monica Jean Welch.

A time of visitation will take place on Thursday December 3, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Interment will take place at Hartzell Cemetery. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Crossroads Hospice in their loving and caring support to Wilma. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Wilma’s honor to the Deerfield Fire Department 9482 St. Rt. 224 Deerfield, Ohio 44411 or to an animal shelter of the donors choice.
