James McAbier, 79, formerly of Georgetown Road in Salem passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Canterbury Villa in Alliance. James was born in Amsterdam, Ohio on October 11, 1939, the son of the late John L. and Bertha (Humphries) McAbier of Amsterdam, Ohio. James was a 1957 graduate of Sebring McKinley High School, a US Army Veteran and retired from Transue and Williams in 2003 after 42 years of service. Mr. McAbier was a member of the Sebring Presbyterian Church, enjoyed hunting (especially coon hunting).
Survivors include his wife Margaret (LeFevre) McAbier of Colorado, a son Donald J. (Leslie) McAbier of Arizona, a daughter Lynn A. (Chad) Cobb, a granddaughter Kaci Lynn Cobb both of Pennsylvania, a brother Joseph (Regina) McAbier of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John "Jack" McAbier and sister Roberta Russell Rohaley.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
