Paul Buttermore Obituary

Paul "Skip" Buttermore, 91 of Damascus passed away at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Skip was born on August 27, 1927 in Alliance to the late Paul and Florence (Lee) Buttermore. He worked as a Die Sinker at Transue Williams and at his own business Damascus Machine. He served in the United States Navy. Skip was a faithful Christian and attended Damascus United Methodist Church. Through his life he served in many capacities including usher, trustee and Sunday School Teacher.

Skip was a 50 year member of UCT (United Commercial Travelers) and was a volunteer Firefighter for Damascus. In his free time Skip enjoyed drinking his morning coffee at Runzo's, golfing and bowling; he also coached many youth organizations. Above all Skip enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Skip is survived by his wife of 72 years Elise (Steer) Buttermore who he married December 23, 1945; a son Jim (Linda) Buttermore of Columbiana; a daughter Paula (Kevin) Wartluft of Damascus; sisters Carol (Richard) Flickinger of Alliance and Nancy Coman of New Jersey; grandchildren Abigail Sweeney, Elizabeth Reagan, Shelby Ullman, Julie Sell and Drew Wartluft; great-grandchildren Claire, Corinne, Colleen, Delaney, Emery, Elise, Miles, Lance and Malachi. Besides his parents Paul was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, Dale, Frank; and sisters Anne Chappel, June Barnes and Jane Cunningham.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Damascus United Methodist Church at 4:00 PM with Rev. Vernon Palo officiating. Friends will be received two hours prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the church. Interment will take place at Damascus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Skip's honor to Damascus United Methodist Church, (Church Building Fund) 300 Valley Rd. Salem, Ohio 44460.
