James W. Funkhouser Sr., 82, of Minerva passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. James was born on March 21, 1938 in Maunie, Illinois to the late William H. and Lela P. (Holtzclaw) Funkhouser. James is a United States Navy Veteran; worked on several oil fields for many years and retired from Alliance Community Hospital as Head of Maintenance. James was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan; enjoyed to tend to his garden and doing yard work.

James is survived by his children James (Soan) Funkhouser Jr., Candice (James B.) Funkhouser, Cindy Hill, Melanie Hill, Brenda Bycraft, Wayne (Dawn) Bowen and Greg (Katrina) Bowen;two sisters Peg (Mike) Fox and Jean (Ron) Boggs; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides his parents James was preceded in death by his first wife Linda Funkhouser in 1977 and his second wife Marilyn Carnahan-Funkhouser in 2019; children Mitchell Bowen, Wesley Bowen, Derek Hill and Vallory Bowen.

A graveside service will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring, Ohio on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Marvin Thomas Jr. officiating. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Sebring. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hanover House and all of his acquired grandchildren and to Jeannie Bowen-Copeland who was always there to support her grandpa throughout the years.
